The mayor of Calgary Naheed Nehshi thanked the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation for the work, support, generosity and time they have provided in helping cleanup Calgary in the 49th Annual Pathway and River Cleanup.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation - Canada celebrated a day for kids this past September 2015 in the city of Calgary, Canada. This activity allowed boys and girls of different cultures to be brought together in which they all had a moment of happiness. A dance competition took place and gifts, food and more were given to them. In short, the boys and girls of Calgary had unforgettable moments along with their families which is something that our founder Maria Luisa Piraquive de Moreno has always wanted.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation Canada, thinking about the community of Calgary, realized a workshop this past January 2015 with an immigration specialist in which the people attending received information and under the supervision of a moderator they worked in teams and developed activities that allowed them to know more of the different immigration statuses in Canada.
Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation celebrated the International Volunteer Day. The purpose of this event was for volunteers to be celebrated and recognized for their efforts,their collaboration and their time. In Edmonton, MLMIFC, provided a certificate to all who had volunteered, throughout the years, for more than 50 hours. A presentation of all the projects and programs that were done during the year 2014, was shown. As well to enjoy the day, bingo was played, and the winners received gifts. To culminate this special day, dinner was served to all.
On May 28th, 2011, in the wonderful city of Edmonton, Canada the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation celebrated a day for kids where smiles were made evident thanks to the love and comprehension that were given to them. Activities to promote the well-being and kids’ rights were realized.
On Saturday 2, 15, and 29 September, 2018. Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation carried out the markets' delivery activity with the main objective to help families with low resources in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and to rescue the value of sharing. The event took place at the Hamilton Church and Shelter, where the Foundation delivered food baskets, in which 128 people were benefited, including adults, seniors, impaired persons and children. The Food Baskets donated to the families included milk, vegetables mix, lettuce, fruit mix, Choco milk, egg salads, squash & cranberry salads, tomatoes, potatoes, macaroni salad and tortillas.
The beneficiaries were pleasantly identified with the work that Dr. Maria Luisa realizes in the world. They expressed words of gratitude to Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation, as well as, to our donors and volunteers.
The Mission Services Foundation of Hamilton appreciates the helping hand of The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation Canada for donations that benefited women in their support centre. It was wonderful to hear more about their work helping immigrants access higher education, meeting their most urgent needs!
On April 24, 2014, a day was held to deliver breakfast items to help 20 families with low resources in Hamilton, Ontario - Canada, with the main objective, to rescue the value of sharing with family by teaching moral values as the basis for enjoying every moment of life. The event was held at the "Immigrant Women's Centre" Organization, allowing members of each family, appreciate these spaces to enjoy together.
Attendees were pleasantly identified with this work, expressing words of gratitude and recognizing the work that Dr. Maria Luisa realizes in the world, rescuing the values that are fundamental for happiness. The donations for this delicious breakfast included bread, cereal, milk, coffee and fruit juices, which were packed in reusable bags.
One Day for kids was held in London, Ontario, Canada, during which more than 250 children enjoyed a day full of fun and activities with their parents that encouraged the importance of applying values to treat others, to respect themselves, the environment and society.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation celebrated their well-known educational campaign "One Day for Kids," on the 19th of August 2017, at Southeast Optimist Park in the city of London, Ontario, Canada.. 374 children along with their families attended this event and enjoyed a day full of educational and fun activites.
To finalize a very productive 2016, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation (Canada) held a day for all the volunteers to appreciate their hard work and commitment throughout the year. At the event we presented a summary of what we accomplished in 2016, the projects for 2017, and made an individual recognition to each of the volunteers who are the most important resource of our Foundation.
The International Foundation Maria Luisa de Moreno on the 17th of September in the city of London Canada, provided food donation to the shelter called, “Unity Project” which is located in the center of London. In this event the food given will feed 30 men and women who have very limited means. Thanks to the donation of a particular person and the hard work of all the foundation’s volunteers, this donation was provided.
With the help of 12 volunteers the Foundation contributed to the city of London by cleaning Jesse Davidson’s park on September 24, 2016. For almost two hours we held a day of cleaning and maintenance of the park, which was adopted by the Foundation four years ago. The purpose of the clean-up is to give back to the city by taking care of our environment. Through these clean-ups we ensure that those families that go to this park will have a clean space to enjoy with their families. Similarly in cleaning the park we have families that attend with their children teaching them from an early age the importance of caring for our environment.
On a sunshine-filled day, full of happiness and fun, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation celebrated the educational campaign “One Day for Kids” in Southeast Optimist Park in the city of London, Ontario. More than 350 children enjoyed an abundant number of activities such as recreational games, dental hygiene class, healthy cooking class and they learned tips on saving for postsecondary education among other activities.
In additional to all the prizes and games that were given out throughout the day, 308 backpacks filled with school supplies and a dental hygiene kits were handed out to children between the ages of 3-12.
Last Saturday Agust 22, 2015, Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation carried out a day for Kids in the city of London. We want to give special THANKS to the following supporters of One Day for Kids 2015. Your contribution and generosity made that this event was great success!.
We had the Volunteer Appreciation Day on April 11, 2015. We had 60 volunteers at the event, where we talked about our projects for this year, welcomed new volunteers, recognized the effort of some volunteers with awards, played bingo, and had a delicious Mediterranean meal.
Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation in Canada is offering two courses of English Pronunciation to immigrants in two schools in London, Ontario, completely free with the goal that they can speak the English language correctly, and therefore improve their quality of life.
We have students from Angola, Argelia, Arabian Peninsula, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, China, South Korea, Lebanon, Pakistan, Syria, and Romania.
Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation in Canada adopted Jesse Davidson’s Park in London, Ontario, Canada two years ago with the commitment of keeping the park clean by conducting regular clean ups.
The City of London invited Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation in Canada to the Adopt-A- Park Celebration Event on September 6, 2014 to recognized us for our work cleaning Jesse Davidson’s park with a certificate.
On August 9th, 2014, we celebrated “One Day for Kids” in London, Canada. Over 100 children attended the event where they enjoyed a day full of presents, activities and food. More than 200 presents were handed to children, including 5 athletic scholarships on a multi-sport program for children between the ages of 6 and 12.
We thank Dr. Maria Luisa Piraquive for her example and for teaching us the importance of giving.
The Foundation visited for the first time the residence "Les Jardins de l'Aubade" where 40 seniors enjoyed a day full of surprises and recreation.
The Foundation donated food baskets in the city of Montreal, where 190 people were benefited.
The Foundation celebrated 109 volunteers on their day with the event “One Day for the Volunteer” in the city of Montreal.
In the city of Montreal, at the Ahuntsic College, the Foundation held the Awakening Entrepreneur Program graduation ceremony for the English Courses and the Personal Finances Workshop, where more than 80 people of different nationalities graduated.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation celebrated for the 4th consecutive time, One Day for the Elder, in the retirement home situated in Cartierville, on November 2nd, 2019.
The Foundation benefited 48 elders; 35 women and 13 men. It was a fun-filled day!
The Foundation celebrated for the 8 th consecutive year the event “One Day for Kids” at VanierCollege in the city of Montreal. This event benefited more than 440 children between the agesof 0 to 12 years old and this year’s theme was: A Healthy Lifestyle.
The Foundation donated food baskets in the city of Montreal where more than 80 families were benefited. People with disability, elderly people and complete families were benefited with these food baskets. We thank all our volunteers and our donors for the food donation allowing this event to happen!
In Montreal - Canada, the Foundation celebrated for the 3rd year in arow the event, “One Day for Seniors”, at the Senior’s home in Carterville. The Foundation benefited 55 seniors of whom 28 were women and 27men.
We thank the 25 volunteers who with great love helped to achieve this day that was full of joy!!
This past November 10th, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation held an Seniors Entertaining Event for the 2nd year at the Nursing home in Cartierville in Montreal. The Foundation benefited 42 seniors.
In Montreal, more than 250 children, in the company of their parents, enjoyed the celebration of A Day for Kids. This was a day full of teachings, which, through artistic presentations, playful activities, pedagogical and also the Hormy Show, sowed a seed of respect and love for others and themselves.a.
The past 21st of July, 2018, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation visited the Retirement Home in Cartierville in Montreal, where 43 seniors were benefited. They enjoyed a fun filled day where they received teachings in values, on being cordial and respecting others to live together in harmony and love, and that they are valuable beings.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation carried out the Nutritional Workshop: Healthy and Balanced Lunch Box On June 2nd, directed in French by the nutritionist, Dt.PGeneviève Gagne from Ville en Vert. 41 familieswere benefited not just with important and useful information but as well, they were provided a food basket.
For the 4th consecutive year the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation, with the help of the city of Montreal was able to do a clean-up day in the Ahuntsic park. With the helpof 43 volunteers, a general clean up of the park was done.
On March 24th, a composting workshop was held at the facilities of the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation, in the city of Montreal. We taught how we can contribute with the environment by using the organic waste that we produce daily at home.
On February 24 in the city of Montreal, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation held a workshop on recycling, where the importance of recycling at home was taught as a daily and rewarding activity that can be done by all members of the family. On the other hand, with this training, we sought to generate environmental awareness and put it into practice on the day of our campaign to clean the Ahuntsic park.
On January 14, 2018 in the city of Montreal, the MLMIF carried out the market delivery activity, in which 84 families were benefited. For the first time it was possible to deliver dairy products, vegetables and fruits thanks to the collaboration of our donors. The Foundation also thanks the volunteers who contributed their time in this event.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation celebrated on December 9th, 2017 the International Volunteer´s Day in the city of Montreal, Canada, where all the Foundation’s volunteers were invited to thank them and give them a special recognition for their work and support during 2017.
The past September 9th, The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation accomplish the event “One day for kids”, took place on community center of Ville Saint-Laurent , 205 children were benefited with school kits.
The children has a big funny day, the thematic of the event was a simulation of a trip, which consisted in a turn of the provinces of Canada, they were accompanied by princess and super heroes, who were guiding in to headquarter for each province.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation accomplish the event My Planet, My City and Me took place in the Ahuntsic Park, located on Lajeunesse Street in Montreal, Canada, On Saturday May 20th 2017. The activity was to do a general clean-up of the park, separating the waste, recyclables, leaves and branches.
In the month of April 2017, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation restarted the French Conversation class for the Intermediate/Advanced level for the Spring Session.
This course is offered to people who wants to improve their pronunciation et the listening of the French language. We have the support of a devoted teacher that makes the class dynamic with day-to-day subjects. Each week, two classes of 50 minutes are given at the offices of the Foundation.
During the month of March and April 2017, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation helped 16 women, 6 men and 1 senior citizen file their income taxes, a total of 24 tax returns were done.
The tax clinic’s main objective was to aid people who need help in preparing and filing their income tax returns for the year 2016. The tax clinic is meant for people who are not able to file their own tax returns or are not able to seek professional help due to their modest income and due to their simple fiscal situation.
In the month of February the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation provided adult diapers and sanitary pads to people living in the greater Montreal area, who do no have the necessary financial means to buy them and taking into consideration that the cost of diapers and sanitary pads can range from $500 to $700 a month. The drive was done with the help of the MLMIF volunteers, who donated their time, gas, and their desire to help out people in need.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation On January 14th, 2017 held a Food Drive were 80 families were helped. This event took place in the Montreal office of the Foundation, where free coffee and snacks were provided while people received their food baskets. In addition, 20 volunteers helped us in organizing and distributing the food baskets given out that day.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation – Canada, is providing a workshop in legal advice in Montreal where 15 people have benefited from this help. This workshop has been offered since August of 2016 with the help of 2 lawyers who have more than 15 years expertise and specialize in immigration.
More than 50 children from the city of Ottawa, Canada, enjoyed the event "A Day for the Child" organized by the María Luisa de Moreno International Foundation. The objective was to teach values such as respect, love towards others, towards themselves and the importance of care of the animals. The children were benefited from Gifts, snacks, games, contests, crafts and Hormys’ Show.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation participated in the Cleaning Capital Campaign. It took place in Billings Park, located on Billing Avenue in Ottawa, Canada, on Saturday September 23rd 2017. For almost two hours we held a day to clean and maintain Billings Park, and this was achieved with the help of 15 of our volunteers.
The Foundation held One Day for Kids in the city of Toronto - Canada. Families and children enjoyed a day full of teachings, contests and games.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation held an engaging seminar for breast cancer awareness in Toronto, Ontario. Over 40 women attended..
The Maria Luisa de Moreno Internacional Fundation Canada carried out on the 17th of September 2016 the educational campaing "One Day For Kids" at Grandravine Community Center in the city of Toronto. 35 children atended the event and enjoyed a memorable day with recreational activities, games and gifts promoting family values.
Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation Canada celebrated its educational campaign "One Day for Kids" 2015 at Grandravine community centre in the city of Toronto.The event was attended by 48 people including 10 children who participated in recreational and leisure activities, promoting values in a warm space with laughter, games and gifts.
On Saturday, May 2, 2015 we had an educational seminar about diabetes prevention.
Unison, which is an educational center for diabetes, presented a seminar in regards to diabetes prevention that promotes a healthier life style.
An informative session was presented in the following topics: diabetes, nutrition, healthy cooking and physical activity.
“We are Colombians and will remain Colombians in any part of the world”, said by an attendee at the Colombian Independence Day celebration in Canada. On August 9th 2014, the city of Mississauga Ontario, inhabited mainly by Colombians, celebrated “Colombia in Mississauga”, an event filled by approximately 4000 patriotic individuals from various nationalities. The event counted with the participation of 25 organizations, including governmental bodies and the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation- Canada (MLMIFC).
